GWA Parents Association
GWA’s Parent Association is called Better Together and is legally recognized in the Statutes of George Washington Academy. The purpose of Better Together is to provide an avenue for parents/legal guardians, teachers, administrators, and students to work together in building a caring school community committed to academic excellence, strong families, athletic pursuit, creative expression and service to others.
Better Together fully supports GWA’s Mission Statement, Philosophy of Education, Objectives and GWA School Board Policies.
The Executive Board of Better Together, which is elected annually, meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings focus on creating a partnership between parents and teachers. Better Together strives to make GWA a place where our children enjoy learning. Better Together hosts an annual Moroccan Festival in the fall giving the GWA community an opportunity to celebrate Moroccan culture. Better Together also has provided for many improvements over the years including:
- additions to the Library collections
- purchase of A/V equipment and athletic equipment
- support of GWA’s arts program through sponsoring the annual Festival of the Arts
- purchase of a permanent awning to protect GWA’s younger students from inclement weather
Better Together meetings are open to all GWA parents.
Check the master calendar for updates on when Better Together meets.
