Middle School

Drama is taught at 6th and 7th Grade and these courses offer a foundation for the more detailed and skilled High School Drama classes. Students learn a variety of basic skills, such as improvisation, devising and role play, all taught at a foundation level. Students will also take part in some scripted pieces to provide an all round feel for Drama and Theatre.

High School

9th Grade 1st Course

Introduction to Drama is made up of a variety of fun and practical activities that teaches various performance skills and techniques. Students will develop devising and improvisational skills, gain a working knowledge of scripted plays and archetypes as well as focusing on team work, effective participation, creative and reflective learning and finally learn how to become self managers. The course focuses on a number of different stimuli and is taught in a way that is fun and 100% practical but enables students to truly develop their performance skill whilst assessing achievement and character. Performances are sometimes filmed to allow for peer and self assessment and also as a record of progress.

A fun packed practical course that develops a variety of performance skills focusing on different stimuli and performance opportunities.

10, 11, 12 Course Drama & Theatre Studies

This performance course is also 100% practical and following different stimuli will develop students creative and practical skills. This course is comprised of an assortment of devised themes, improvisation, acting skills and techniques, scripts and many more. Once again owing to the type of work that takes place and the requirements of students, it aids student growth in character, reflective and effective learning and participation, team work, creative thinking and self management. Performances are sometimes filmed to allow for peer and self assessment and also as a record of progress.

100% practical performance course that affords creativity to grow in a positive learning environment and allows for a variety of performance opportunities.

Acting and Performance

This course is made up of a variety of practical activities such as devising plays, acting skills and techniques, exploring improvisation, performance in context to name but a few. This is a collaborative course and students will be required to work together in order to develop creativity and performance skills. A number of performances will be filmed to allow for peer and self assessment and also as a record of progress.

THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE IS ALWAYS BENEFICIAL IN ANY THEATRE COURSE
