Accreditation

Steps and Processes

George Washington Academy has been accredited by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) since 2009. MSA accreditation helps GWA review critically its current performance, set a course for positive change, and build the commitment and support necessary for significant and long-term improvement. Following an assortment of standards based on research and established best practices, it also serves to recognize GWA’s position as a leading school dedicated to providing high quality education to our students.

Following MSA’s two-year long Excellence By Design re-accreditation process, the MSA Visiting Team reaffirmed in the Spring of 2016 GWA’s alignment with all MSA Standards of Accreditation and policies. In October of 2016, MSA’s Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools voted formally to approve GWA’s re-accreditation through December 1, 2023. GWA will pursue continuous improvement through the implementation of a five-point plan focused on our multilingual approach to education; service and life skills; communication; curriculum; and Professional Learning Communities. GWA will submit a mid-term report to MSA in the Fall of 2019 to share evidence of attaining benchmarks in these areas that measure our institutional progress implementing the plan, and will begin again the reaccreditation process in the 2021-2022 school year.
