Arts

At GWA, students hone their creativity through both visual and performing arts in the lower and upper schools.  Beginning in Kindergarten, all elementary students have both Music and Art classes each week. In middle school, students explore focusing on art, music, and drama.  In high school, students deepen their art, music, and drama interests with a variety of courses that challenge them to grow their creativity, talent, and skill. Each Spring the Visual & Performing Arts department stages a musical with a cast of middle and high school students who audition in the Fall for their roles.  In addition to on-stage opportunities, students get involved in the musical through leadership roles in areas such as set construction, stage crew and choreography for the shows.

Lower School Arts

Discovery through Grade 5 students have a dedicated program for Arts education.  After-School Activities compliment the in-school arts program by providing classes in sewing & design, MakerSpace, pottery, and many more.  During the 2020-21 school year, GWA hosted two professional street artists and large-scale muralists as artists in residence.  Together with the GWA student population, the artists in residence and arts teachers guided students through the design and application process to re-paint all of the classroom doors in the school.

Upper School Arts

Upper School Arts students have the opportunity beginning in grades 6 to participate in Drama class.  GWA’s annual school musical provides middle & high school students an opportunity to sing, dance and act in a full stage production. Throughout the school year, multiple concerts and performances are held on stage providing students with many opportunities to showcase their talents.

"GWA did not only equip my mind and build my character, but also developed my capabilities and taught me to take ownership of my actions both outside and inside campus."
