Middle School
Building Foundations for the Future!
Grades 6-8
In Middle School, we lay a strong foundation for critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative learning.
Following Common Core standards, middle school students engage in project-based learning across literacy, math, science, and social studies, bridging core subjects to real-world scenarios and global citizenship. Hands-on activities and interdisciplinary projects help students make connections across subjects, fostering curiosity and an eagerness to explore. This approach prepares them for the more in-depth and inquiry-based high school experience, establishing a smooth transition from foundational skills to more advanced, student-led learning.
Middle School Approach
Middle School begins the time in life when children begin to become adults. Significant physical, social, and cognitive changes occur during the middle school years. Middle School students are faced with social complexities, their desire to try new things, and their changing bodies. This is a time of opposing wants and needs. They want to be both unique and the same as others, separate and connected, capable and supported.

Middle School Curriculum

GWA’s Middle School program offers a rigorous, balanced, and engaging educational experience designed to support students during these critical years of growth. Students follow a broad and challenging curriculum that includes Language and Literature, English, French, Mathematics, Science, Individuals and Societies, Arabic, Physical Education, Design, and a range of Arts courses. This interdisciplinary approach encourages intellectual curiosity while supporting the development of well-rounded learners.
Classes meet daily on a consistent schedule, with students engaging in focused 50-minute lessons that promote continuity, depth of learning, and strong organizational habits.
Transition to High School

As students prepare to transition into high school, they complete the Personal Project in Grade 10, a signature experience that bridges middle school learning with the expectations of the high school program. Through this independent, student-driven project, learners explore a topic of personal interest while developing essential research, self-management, reflection, and critical thinking skills.
The Personal Project allows students to demonstrate their strengths, passions, and ability to apply learning to real-world contexts, providing a strong foundation for the academic rigor of the IB Diploma Programme.
